Save Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 9.7" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally – Latest Generation

i have replaced this item FOUR times in 9 months: it has three electrically related failures and one failure associated with Amazon's 50 dollar cover, which caused the facing to delaminate from the base.

the electronic failures:
two instances of electronic ink failing to properly redistribute so that the type was difficult to read;
one instance of the screen duplicating the first half of the page on the lower portion of the unit.

additional irks include:
a habit of resorting to automatic rotation despite setting the unit to manual rotation. the automatic rotation works nominally and without reliability.
the units freeze and most be reset, roughly bi-weekly.
various type fonts are not supported, so the unit will portray a given letter with some obscure, unreadable replacement. somewhat resembling a cartoon character's cursing--which i also resemble, now that i think on it, using this device.

i could go on, but i won't. i can only emphasize that i regret this purchase whole-heartedly. i am concerned what will be the upshot when my warranty runs out: i certainly will not replace this device, and i have spent (much less than i intended) money on a kindle library that will be useless to me.

i seriously advise prospective buyers to investigate the reliability of these units very carefully. once the technological moxie of the device dissipates, there isn't much reason to waste money on it. i assume they are of chinese manufacture, and that says all you need to know, doesn't it???

A VERY DISAPPOINTED BUYER!
