I have a kindle DX especially for studying for my cisco certifications. Reading most from PDF. So, pdf zoom for me was ... it sucks. Compared to book, i only needed something between 10-15% zoom, but this is not possible. So, zoom is useless without the ability to manually choose the zoom. Maybe U can use it for a scheme or graph, nothing more. Once per week. Nobody will read using left-right joystick all the time.
Also collections are an important think. They are good BUT there is no possibility for mass sort and move, especially using the computer. For example, when I transfer 100 files to my kindle (I make my books smaller, in chapters, and read one or two per day), I want them already in collections, something like folders. We are used with folders. Amazon will never reinvent the computer folders, making them software folders, people will not understand this.
What would be great for me also ? Time counter, to know how much time I used to read every book, how much time I have spend reading from a special collection, an updated clock somewhere in a corner. I study during night time, but next day I have to go to work also.
