When I received my new Kindle, it would not charge and it was unclear whether it was the Kindle or the power cord. I eventually got the help desk to agree with me that it was not going to charge, no matter how many times we counted to 15 holding a button or other really strange manuevers. At that point, I was sent a new Kindle which seems to work (I have been able to charge it).
