I am really pleased with my Kindle DX. I got it about a year ago and I purchase between three and five books per week on it. I carry it with me just about everywhere I go. When I'm in my car or cooking or doing the dishes it reads to me.
It fell off the nightstand and broke about three months ago and I seriously wanted to cry. Thank goodness my warranty covered it and they sent me a new one, it arrived about two days later at no cost to me.
I also purchased a Mighty Bright Light for it but my dog ate it and I have yet to replace it. I also have the standard leather cover that comes with it. I bent the cover by opening the wrong side once but a pair of pliers fixed it and I haven't done it since. I've had it freeze up probably three or four times but holding the power button for several seconds to shut it down has worked every time.
I am overall extremely happy with my Kindle DX. My mother has a Sony Reader and they just don't compare, in my opinion. For convenience alone I choose the Kindle every time. I read a lot. In fact my brother said just yesterday that all I ever do is read. Some people grumble about the cost of books on Kindle as if they should be cheaper because they're digital and not something you can hold in your hand or pass around to your friends. But if you purchased a book, add in shipping and handling, then you're paying more than you would for a digital book assuming the digital and print editions are the same price. If someone wants a book so badly they can buy it themselves. I've never been much of a book-sharer. I guess I'm too selfish. I don't even let people hold my Kindle because I would have to club them with something if they dropped it and it broke. I think it's short-sighted to view digital content as something that's less than a paperback or hardback book. It's not so much about the physical object, it's about the ability of the book to transport me to another place or to teach me something. I can carry my library in my backpack instead of having teetering stacks of books all over my house.
I would highly recommend this product to people who are voracious readers. If you read a book a month then you probably shouldn't purchase one. Another a plus is at a huge number of classics that are free on the Kindle. I just downloaded the Brother's Grimm Household Tales today. I started reading a few serialized novels because the first in the set were free.
I have a few scratches on my Kindle DX and I'd like to get a screen protector but I've heard that the screen can become severely damaged if you use one and I don't really want to chance it because I honestly don't know what I'd do without my Kindle. I do read it that much. So much so that I hardly even watch television anymore.Get more detail about Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 9.7" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally – Latest Generation.
